3 ways for new parents to use a muslin to stretch your shoulders
For all new parents (and anyone else!)
Our shoulders get tight and scrunchy all the time, so this post and ten minute video is not just for new parents.
You can use any non-stretchy scarf, belt even a rolled towel to do these stretches, and you can sit on a chair if you prefer not to be on the floor.
As new parents there are muslins everywhere - now you can add another use for them - to ease out those achy shoulders, that spend a lot more time rounded forward as we hold, feed, lift and carry our little ones.
As with all stretching, be mindful of your body and how it feels for you. Pain means stop. Hopefully though these easy stretches will help to relax and release your shoulders and create a bit of space. Tightness creeps up, so you can do these everyday to help keep the tightness at bay.
These are also great to do if your little one is awake - make sure you are sitting on the floor with them safely in front of you, they enjoy watching the muslin, playing peepo when it re-appears from behind your back, and you can tickle and waft them with the muslin as you go - you’ll become great entertainment for them and your shoulders will thank you too :)
I hope you enjoy - let me know how you get on…
