Every woman, baby, labour and birth is unique.
Every labour and birth can be positive, no matter how or where this takes place.
A positive, even joyful birth is possible for every woman.
There are many factors which can occur through labour and birth – you cannot plan for all of them – but you can empower yourself by learning some tools and techniques to navigate the changes and challenges of birth positively. Classes, books and positive birthing websites are all good places to find lots of information about the range of options for birth, how you can make it a positive experience and give you confidence in your ability to birth your baby through the power of your own body working with your baby in the way they are designed to.
What we are offering is complimentary to NHS and NCT classes. Our Positive Birth Workshop is designed to give you additional tools to these offerings and to help you and your birth partner practise and prepare for a positive birth whether that is in hospital or at home, an induced labour or a natural one. The techniques can also be used through the rest of your pregnancy and some even for caesarean birth preparation. (The tools may also be helpful for caesarean birth, but if that is your chosen birth route please contact us to discuss whether the workshop is suitable for you.) If you are unsure of your birth plan yet, then its worth keeping all your options open and this workshop might be very useful. You will also get to meet other expecting parents on the workshop, we know that the social side of learning is just as important for creating confidence and feeling supported, and often long lasting friendships are made.
What is covered in the course:
This Positive Birth Workshop is for you and your birth partner. It takes place over two evenings , each evening is a 2 hour sessions. Total 4 hours.
We include:
- what active and positive birth is
- an overview of the female pelvis and how to use it well in labour and birthing
- birthing choices including pain relief
- the 4 stages of labour and birth, hormones and techniques to use through each of the stages to support your journey positively
- birth positions, gentle yoga movement, breathwork, hypnobirthing and relaxation techniques which can support each stage of labour and birth
- sharing these techniques with birth partners so they can support you at each stage in the best way for you
- techniques for you and your partner to do together during labour and birth
- ways to navigate staying at home as long as possible and the transfer to hospital if that is your birth plan
- time to practise the techniques and we’ll even have a (unfilled) birth pool for you to test out.
The workshop will focus on labouring and birthing in a hospital or home setting. It will follow an 'average' straightforward labour and birth pattern, with ways to navigate changes and challenges to this.
Also Included:
